Publisher’s ColumnLet’s just be upfront about it... The bottom line: advertisers make Baby Shop possible! As Publisher of this magazine, my bread is buttered by the sponsors who use us to get the word out about their products to you, the independent retailers of juvenile products. Besides the advertisement in the print edition of Baby Shop, we provide our advertisers with complimentary exposure through eBABYSHOP. This is the quarterly companion newsletter to this magazine. If you don’t get eBABYSHOP, subscribe to it by visiting BabyShopMagazine.com/subscribe. We also include advertiser information on Product Update Pages on our website. Visit this section to review unique products when adding new inventory to your mix. Recently, we emailed a list of our advertisers and their booth numbers to those who subscribe to eBabyShop to encourage all the retailers to visit them while at the show. If you did not get this email, the same list appears on page 60 of this issue. Before the next show, we will again transmit such a list...to get this, you must be a subscriber to eBabyShop! Where do you...our readers...come into the picture? Over the last 14+ years, we have never diluted the editorial content for the sake of getting additional advertising. I hope and believe that if you think of Baby Shop as the magazine of choice in our business, it is because of our strong and relevant articles and resources. ALL the articles in Baby Shop are included with the goal of helping you, the retailer, manage your business better. We are totally committed to this editorial philosophy, even at the expense of losing some prospective advertisers. Many manufacturers tell us that they read Baby Shop intently and keep past issues but will not advertise since Baby Shop will not carry features about their specific products or companies. Let me ask you, my readers, straight up...do you really want to know if Joe has just been promoted at a company to become the VP of marketing? Am I missing something here? PLEASE let me know! Again, let’s just be upfront about it...you will be doing us and yourself a favor by visiting our advertisers at the show or their websites. I strongly encourage you to consider their products and offerings for your stores.
