Regal Lager, Inc. Wins Prestigious Golden Carrot Award
Employee Exercise Challenge empowers employees to gain healthy habits and lose weight
Kennesaw, GA – January 15, 2008 - Regal Lager, Inc. distributor of quality baby and children’s brands has received the Golden Carrot award from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as part of their Better Health program. The Golden Carrot Award recognizes exceptional organizations, schools and individuals who encourages and work towards healthy living.
The exercise program began as a challenge to employees after a surprise day of bowling left many employees with sore muscles. Vice President Luanne Whiting-Lager saw this as an opportunity to develop a program around healthy living.
“I realize that most of us in the office have busy lives and unfortunately we sometimes neglect our health,” says Whiting-Lager.
Regal Lager participated in the American Heart Association’s START exercise program, challenging employees to get 30 minutes of exercise a day. All employees participated by walking, many at least 1.3 miles around the office. Many staff members took the initiative to exercise on their own during the lunch break and after work.
“I was pleasantly surprised by the commitment of the employees,” says Whiting-Lager.
By the end of the 11-week challenge Monica Eklund, Customer Care Representative/Returns, came out on top and had tracked 4,550 minutes of activity.
“This is just the beginning. Many of the staff members have found exercise partners to work with and we will continue to support our employees in achieving their health goals” says Whiting-Lager.
