Necessity—The Mother of Invention

When pregnant with my first child, I knew I wanted to carry my baby as much as possible. My son Coby was born with Down syndrome, but this didn't change a thing in our parenting plans, except make us more determined to improve his mental, physical & emotional development. It is well known that children with developmental delays and special needs benefit from the extra stimulation of being carried close to the wearer, especially during the infant stage.

We found that most baby carriers didn't give him support for his low muscle tone. We began to experiment, and as a result the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier design came about. He got the swaddling needed, was able to sit up, while still having his legs and body in a developmentally appropriate posture. The Baby K'tan gave us the ability to have him face forward, observe the world & receive the stimulation he benefited from so much. It created the ideal environment for development and growth.
